During my career of over fifty years I practiced first as an individual and family counselor and coach in the Atlanta area, my home town. In the late eighties, after moving to Maine with my family, I did some clinical work, and helped train some new family therapists. I then made a career transition to working as an organizational health consultant, executive coach, trainer, project manager, and facilitator in businesses of all types. Primarily as an external consultant but also with two companies as an employee.
I’m married, the father of three wonderful and thriving adults, and the grandfather to four grandchildren who I tend to smile and laugh a lot with whenever I can.
Music has always been a big part of my life. I love to listen to all types of music, and I play the guitar and piano. Not professionally, but good enough to enjoy it very much.
I walk, hike, bike, and do yoga for exercise. Over the years I’ve written many essays, Op-eds, and poems. Some are published. I included a few on this website.
Three years ago I decided to take a break from working so much at the strong encouragement of my family. I’ve been traveling some with my wife and working a part time job doing customer service in a large organization to help pay for these trips. The break is now over and I’ve relaunched my individual coaching practice.
I now do in depth personal coaching with individuals seeking to grow by finding greater purpose and meaning in their lives, developing fulfilling friendships and healthy intimate relationships, developing into their best self personally and professionally, building their character in a positive direction, learning how to act with courage in difficult life situations, and many other ways someone wants to develop personally.
I still have much work to do to become my “best self” but I keep trying. Sometimes with success and other times I stumble along making mistakes. That’s life. The important part for all of us, I believe, is to keep trying. Sometimes we need help from a skilled professional and I’ve received lots of that type of help during my life.
I’m one of those highly skilled and experienced professionals who knows how to help individuals develop as people successfully. I enjoy doing this work very much.
